Solid Cache uses a database instead of an in-memory store, the thinking being that modern storage is plenty fast enough for caching purposes. This means you can cache a lot more than you would do with a memory-based store (pretty handy these days in the middle of a RAM shortage!), but you also don’t need another layer such as Redis.
